Alternative solutions were therefore sought for ways in wich Thailand could successfully develop into overseas routes and following a request for assistance, The US.International Co-operation Administration (ICA) arranged with Pan American Airways in March 1956 to provide Thailand with technical staff for three years to help the company improve and expand its operations. The ICA grant of $2 million converted all aspects of airline operation, and a separate ICA project was set up to improve the country's airport and airway facilities.,
Later that year T.A.C. again ordered Super Constellation - Three this time instead of two as ordered in 1953. This extra capacity was thought necessary to put into operation tentative plans to reintroduce trans-Pacific services. and possibly also start a route to London. The big airliners were delivered in the summer of 1957 and entered service later that year on Thai Airways'longer routes.
Despite the ICA programme and new equipment. the airline's international position deteriorated in 1958 and, to stem mounting losses, services were drastically curtailed, Super Constellation services were withdrawn early in the year and replaced by low-fare DC-4 flight.  The Hong Kong and Tokyo service were suspended a few months later. There was a slight recovery through the winter period, the upward trend then became more pronounced and by the end of 1959 operating losses had been substantially reduced, although not entirely eliminated, The three Super Constellation were sold, via SAS, to Guest Aerovias of Mexico in September 1959 after having been out of use for 18 months.
